“There is nothing in this word you have to do”
I mean realistically - you don’t have to work, you don’t have to cook , bathe, speak, and in all reality, you don’t have to eat or drink. You don’t have to breath as the little boy says “I will hold my breath till I turn blue’ Of course there are consequences to such actions but we don’t have to do anything you don't want to.
Upon this realisation, I would like to discuss being Appreciative..
Have you ever thought “why do I do the things that I do” How we serve the Lord for instance. We serve the Lord for many reasons -some out of Love, some out of obligation, others out of fear or guilt and there are those who try to pay God back for His Love -Grace- and Mercy (as though they could).
I find that most people that are not appreciative are under the impression that people or even God for that matter ow them something or have too or are obligated to do what they do. For instance a waitress or waiter brings your food to the table after they have taken your order ‘ what do you say? Hopefully “Thank you” You may say they are only doing it for the tip. For whatever the reason why, they didn’t have to.
Go out and buy your Wife some flowers to show you Love her and appreciate her and all she does, Likewise Wive show your Husband you appreciate his efforts, this is extended to your children, friends, strangers and loved ones.
“For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him shall have everlasting life” John 3:16
I serve the Lord and others out of appreciation. Because like people I know that God doesn’t have to do what he does. He doesn’t have to allow us to wake every morning, provide fresh air, water, food, shelter, protection etc.. So when He does I’m grateful, thankful, and appreciative (Thank you Father for it is only by your hand that “I live move and have my being” Acts 17:28)
Appreciation, from my heart to yours...
