It is becoming more evident in our churches today that we are moving increasingly away from our biblical roots. Our services are powerless, our members are untrained and our prayer life is nonexistent. We are no longer preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but the gospel according to Pastor so in so or better, Bishop so in so.
I believe this phenomenon is occurring due to un-saved Pastors in the pulpit. I would go as far as to say hedonistic practices in our congregations and pulpits.
Occasionally I get into trouble by asking a simple question “Are you saved” The reason I would ask this question is because about 20 years ago, my Pastor at the time (Pastor Ben Lincoln) in a roundabout way stated that “not everybody in the church are saved “. I thought that was the oddest thing I ever heard, what? Not everyone in the church is saved! My thought was of the body of Christ mentioned in 2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new”.
But he, of course, was speaking of the church congregation. “Not everyone in the church (congregation) are saved”
More of us should ask that question, we should ask our deacons, our ministers, our Pastors, while looking for the fruit of their testimony “Are you saved”. Now a day more than ever we are seeing fallen Pastors, failing churches, disbursed congregations and many saints in pain/hurting because we have not asked the simple question “Are you saved!”
